Women of Valor: The Spiritual BattleSample
Day 3: Put on the Full Armor of God
We are never sent into battle unprepared!
God gives us a full suit of armor to protect us whenever we take our stand against the devil’s schemes. The armor of God is a metaphor for the various spiritual defenses we can put in place to protect ourselves from the attacks of the devil. These defenses include the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
When we put on the full armor of God, we are equipped to resist the devil’s temptations and attacks. We are protected and strengthened by the truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the word of God.
Are you putting on the full armor God has given you?
Consider this short film, Armor, by Andrew Huggins.
How do you respond to this film?
Terrified and overwhelmed, the girl in Armor falls to her knees—before decisively standing up tall, marching forward, putting on each piece of God’s armor, and vanquishing her fears.
Andrew, who wrote and directed Armor, says, “this film is a spiritual interpretation of the Bible verses, showing fear and sin overcome by faith in the Holy Spirit. A child uses the Armor of God to overcome fear and temptation.”
How do you respond to the fears and anxieties in your life?
Do you sense God’s bright light ready to illuminate the shadows and vanquish your enemies?
