Two Kingdoms - Part 2Sample
Two Kinds of People
Read Matthew chapter 25, verses 1 - 30.
In these first two sections of Matthew 25, we can clearly see two kinds of people, living for opposing kingdoms. In the Parable of the Ten Virgins, we see that five of them were foolish, and five were wise. Five were prepared and expecting the bridegroom, but the other five were not ready.
In the Parable of the Bags of Gold, we see the "good and faithful servants" who took what they were entrusted with, invested it, and reaped a harvest. On the contrary, we see the "wicked and lazy servant" who did not reap a harvest for the master.
Go deep: What a fascinating chapter! We can clearly see the contrast of the values of people living for opposing kingdoms. The kinds of people living for the kingdom of heaven are defined here by readiness and faithfulness. Are you faithfully stewarding the talents and resources that God has entrusted you with?
Be bold: Who in your environment could you share this truth about the kingdom of heaven with? Perhaps there is a group of people in your community who have practical needs... Why not grab some friends and come up with some ways of serving them?!
Memorise it: “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ - Matthew 25:21 NIV
