Two Kingdoms - Part 2Sample
React like Jesus
Go deep: This passage shows mankind at its worst - a plot to kill the Son of God - the man who spent His entire life loving and healing and drawing others into a deeper relationship with the Father. The kingdom of man was plotting evil and making plans to get paid to betray a man who had done nothing wrong. Even Jesus' own friends showed glimpses of their own humanity in this chapter! They felt anger and annoyance when the woman poured perfume on Jesus, and later on, they couldn't even stay awake with Jesus while He prayed!
Meanwhile, we see the Kingdom of God through Jesus here on earth. Jesus showed us how to live according to His kingdom. He showed wisdom, forgiveness, and dependence on the Father in the face of trial. He knew He was about to die, and He knew who was about to betray Him. Yet, He still showed love, mercy, and forgiveness.
Be bold: Is there a situation in your life where you need to react more like Jesus did? Do you need to show wisdom, forgiveness, or dependence on the Father? Spend a moment talking to the Father about it. After you pray, do something about it! Send a text or make a plan to meet up with someone to tell them what God revealed to you.
Memorise it: Matthew 26:13 reminds us that we can live like Kingdom people while here on earth! One woman honoured Jesus and will be remembered for it forever! Take time to commit these words to memory: "Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”
