Over the TopSample
The top speeds for an F1 racing car are 220 miles per hour, which is mind-bending fast. When a driver takes a corner, the force on their body can feel like six times their body weight! A 150 lbs driver can feel like there are 900 lbs pressing them. This means going around a turn in an F1 car is like getting sat on by a polar bear!
With that much power in a car, drivers need to know if their vehicle is operating the way it should. So, they install a bunch of dials and lights on the steering wheel so they know what is happening under the hood. The steering is incredibly complicated. It looks like a video game controller that can also help you fly to the moon.
The inner workings of the human heart are way more complicated than an F1 racing car, but Jesus says that you don't need a complex steering wheel to understand what is happening inside of you. You simply need to pay attention to your words.
Jesus says that our mouth expresses what is happening in our hearts. If it is full of evil or harmful intent, it will speak discouragement. If it is full of goodness and love, it will encourage others. Your words can kind of function like the check engine light in a car.
So, consider your words this week. If they are hypercritical, it could indicate there is more going on. Talk to God about it and ask for help.

About this Plan
Have you ever seen an action movie where the stunts became more and more outrageous? Each stunt gets more extreme as the movie continues to push the limits of what to expect. What if that same mindset inspired us to live differently in our lives? What if we looked to God for ways to be extreme and do the unexpected in places like generosity?
