Whales sing to communicate. Whales can hear other whale songs from miles away, and upon hearing these songs, whales will swim to meet each other.

In 2012, scientists identified a blue whale that became known as "the world's loneliest whale" because its song was a few octaves higher than what the other blue whales were able to hear. So it swam all alone, looking for friends in the ocean, while singing a song that nobody else could hear. Scientists named the whale 52 Blue.

You might feel like 52 Blue. You've got a song that nobody else can relate to, or understand. You want to make friends, but you just can't seem to connect with anyone else out there.

Loneliness is one of the hardest things a person can experience. But here's the good news — God promises that we're never alone. In fact, in Deuteronomy 31:8, we are told that God will never leave us. Even when you're feeling like you've been abandoned and nobody understands you, the person who loves you best is right there with you.

A few years after scientists discovered 52 Blue, they actually discovered another whale who sang songs in the same key. It turned out 52 Blue didn't have to stay the loneliest whale in the world. He just had to find someone else who could hear what he was singing. And just like him, God can hear everything we're saying too — even when we feel like we're all alone.
