Too Scared to Ask - Real Questions & Real Answer

DAY 7 OF 15

Gnats & Flies

Reflect

Exodus 8:17 mentions that all the dust turned to gnats. Just to add a little perspective, Egypt is a desert. It is all dust. Think about how many nasty little bugs this would be. I think if I had lasted this long, this plague would be where I would raise the white flag in surrender. But Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. God continued to prove that He was far stronger than the Egyptian false gods. This plague targeted Geb, the God of dust of the Earth. This time Pharaoh's magicians did not succeed in replicating this plague (although again, I am not sure why they would even want to.)

Until the plague of the flies, the plagues affected everyone in Egypt. But this time, God protected Goshen, the area where His people lived. But the flies swarmed every Egyptian, separating God’s people from Pharaoh’s people, making it even more apparent that the God of the Hebrews was the one true God and he would not stop until the Israelites were released from slavery. To get rid of the flies, Pharaoh allowed Moses and Aaron to leave the city so they could make a sacrifice to God and pray for Him to remove the flies. In turn, he told Moses and Aaron he would let the Israelites go, but Pharaoh was not one to keep his word, and still Pharaoh’s heart remained hard and the plagues continued.

Worship God Today:

Listen to the song “Good Grace” by Hillsong. Pick out one or two lyrics and write them down to remember.
