A small lie to keep you out of trouble, a quick glance at a friend’s homework, or making fun of someone when they’re too far away to hear you anyway—these can be much harder to say no to.

One of the scariest things in high school can be going against the norm. You risk rejection and ridicule. Everyone is trying so hard to fit in so it’s easy to notice anyone who is living differently—and because God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts, following and obeying Him will definitely make us stand out. This can cost us invites, status, and even friendships.

When you choose to stand firm in your faith, you align yourself with the greatest friend you could ever have—Jesus. He will never leave you or forsake you. The opinions of others may change, but God's love for you remains constant. Don't let the fear of rejection sway you from living out your faith boldly. Stay rooted in God's truth. Seek His guidance through prayer, and study His Word. Surround yourself with friends who share your faith and values, and together, support and encourage one another to do what you know is right.
