Planted and Flourishing

DAY 3 OF 15

Seedlings, which are young plants, have a lot of growing to do. They need to send roots down into the soil, grow tall stems and branches, and lots of leaves. And that’s all before they can start growing flowers and fruit. But what does a plant need to grow? It needs food! Just like people, plants need food. But what type of food? Could you feed a plant a hamburger? How about a juicy steak and vegetables? Human food is not what a plant needs.

It might sound simple, boring, and not very yummy, but what plants need is dirt and water. Good soil may seem simple, but it’s powerful. Good soil is full of the right nutrients for a plant to flourish.

What is in the soil that helps YOU to grow and flourish? Good soil means reading God’s Word, praying and spending time with Him, being part of a great church, and learning together. It might sound simple, but good things like this are exactly what helps us grow.

There’s a lot to learn when you plant yourself in God’s word - it’s okay if you don’t understand something. You can ask God to help you and ask your parents, leaders, or friends for help. Just like eating a meal, you take one bite at a time and chew on it before you can digest it. You can take one bite at a time of God’s Word and chew on it, which means to think it over, talk about it, and pray about it so you can digest it.

There is so much in God’s Word that will help us to grow and flourish. Be planted in God’s Word.
