Planted and FlourishingSample

A plant doesn’t grow all on its own. It needs to be planted, watered, and provided sunshine. To flourish, it must be planted in the right soil and have the right amount of water and light. If it wasn’t planted in good soil and didn’t get enough water or light, it might stop growing altogether.
Plants get nutrients from the soil, hydration from water, and they use the energy they receive from sunshine to power photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a hard word to say: it describes how plants turn carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil into food to help them grow.
It all starts with being planted. We are like plants. We can’t grow all on our own; we need food, water, and care. Our spiritual life also won’t grow all on its own. We need to be planted in God’s Word. A plant that is flourishing has strong roots, roots that go deep into the into the ground. When you come across a big, strong, and flourishing tree, you can’t see where roots go deep and wide below ground.
We don’t just visit God’s Word occasionally - we plant ourselves in His Word. To plant ourselves in God’s Word means we read it, ask God to speak to us through it, obey what He says, and live our lives from the truth of His Word. Then, we will grow roots deep in His Word and flourish.
