Real Hope: Character of GodSample
He Will Never Tire
Over almost ten years in ministry, I’ve noticed a lot of changes in the way that people live day to day. One interesting example is that when you ask people how they are doing, it’s becoming increasingly common for them to respond: ‘tired’. It’s not surprising. Between cost-of-living pressures, always-on technology, hustle culture, and a host of other things you probably know too well, we find ourselves having to squeeze more and more out of every day, just to stay upright.
Alongside this trend, I’ve also noticed that people are becoming more accommodating of this generalized weariness. ‘I’m tired’ used to be a pretty poor excuse to cancel plans, but that’s changing. We’re collectively learning that most people have a lot going on and we give each other space. I’m not suggesting whether this is a good or a bad thing. It’s just a thing. But I do wonder if sometimes we do this with God. It’s easy to forget that God is eternal, infinite and all-powerful. The capacity limits that apply to each of us don’t apply to Him.
The world can be pretty heavy sometimes, but He doesn’t tire of us. There’s no limit to how many times we can come to Him with the same issues, the same prayers, the same worries. He cares, He understands, and He responds. So whatever today brings, lean on God. He won’t crumble. Keep bringing that prayer that you’re tired of praying. He’s not tired of hearing it.
