Real Hope: Character of GodSample

He Will Do It
It can be easy to view God through the same lens we see each other. We look at Jesus, who took on human flesh and dwelt among us, and we start to see Him through human eyes, making Him just like us. However, when we view God through a human lens, we also start to give Him human character traits.
Despite Jesus taking on human form, God is not a human. He is not ‘one of us’. In fact, He’s so far above us that we don’t even compare to Him, which is great news! Scripture tells us that God is not a man that He should lie or a human that He should change His mind, which tells us that His character is true. It tells us that His character is pure. His character is trustworthy. And if He is trustworthy, it means we can trust that He is faithful to His Word. God’s true and pure character means that He fulfills His promises, and He is more faithful to us than we will ever be to Him.
We may not understand God’s ways or His timing, but we can trust that when God says He will do something, He will do it. When He says He will protect us, He will do it. When He says He will never abandon us, He will never abandon us. He is a good God with no evil within Him. Therefore, we can trust Him and trust that He is the safest place for our hearts.
