DAY 6 OF 10

Day 6: Don’t Be Caught Without Fruit:

Welcome to day 6! Today, we will be talking about why we must plant faithfully and with intention because others see our fruit through our actions.

In the pristine Garden of Eden, where beauty and perfection intertwined, Adam and Eve found themselves surrounded by an array of luscious and tempting fruits. God, the loving Creator, had graciously provided them with abundant trees, each bearing fruit for their sustenance and delight. It was a bountiful paradise, a testament to the generosity and care of their Maker.

In the unfolding of time, the symbolic relationship between fruit and mankind continued to evolve. Throughout the pages of the Bible, fruit often served as a metaphor for the outcome of one’s actions and choices. Just as a tree is known by its fruit, so too is humanity known by the fruit it bears.

Psalm 1:3 says, “He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” These words resonate with a profound truth: when humanity aligns its heart, mind, and actions with God’s will, it bears fruit that brings blessings and prosperity to both the individual and the world.

Conversely, the fruit of wickedness and disobedience yields bitter consequences. The apostle Paul warns, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). Just as a rotten apple spoils the whole bunch, the consequences of sinful actions have far-reaching effects, impacting not only the individual but also the community and the world.

However, the relationship between fruit and mankind extends beyond mere actions and consequences. It also encompasses the spiritual growth and transformation that occur within the hearts of individuals.

Unfortunately, if you are not growing, then it is difficult to produce fruit. This means anything that is not growing is not producing.

In Matthew 7:19, we find profound teachings from Jesus himself. He shared a powerful metaphor: "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” These words encourage us to ponder the significance of our lives and actions. The message here is clear: being fruitful isn’t just about accumulating material wealth, but it’s equally about manifesting love, kindness, and righteousness in our deeds.

James, the brother of Jesus, delivers a powerful message in his stating, “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” (James 2:17). This verse underscores the idea that faith is not merely an abstract belief but a living, breathing force that should lead to productive, meaningful actions. It’s a reminder that faith comes alive through our deeds.

These teachings remind us that true fruitfulness goes beyond the tangible and extends to the profound and lasting impact we can have on the world and the lives of those around us. Our fruit is often not for us but for others to enjoy the creative power of God!
