The Shield of Faith

Maybe you've seen a child playing with a small super hero shield made of plastic. Fortunately, a Roman soldier in Paul’s time would have had a more substantial shield. His shield would have been large enough to cover most of his body and provide true protection from the attacks of his enemy.

Our faith in God can provide such protection because our faith in God points to our hope through God. The hope we have in God’s sovereignty and the salvation we have through Jesus help us to persevere through trials and maintain our footing against the attacks of the Enemy. It’s important to note the faith we have is not a blind or unreasonable faith. While we are to have faith in the unseen, there is much we can see and study to support our faith. History, archaeology, and many other disciplines continue to confirm the historical accuracy of the Scriptures.
