The Answer?
Remember your question? It’s something like, “Do I have what it takes?” You’ve carried your question around a long time. Hopefully you’ve begun getting the answer from your heavenly Father and through godly friends and mentors. But, throughout your life you’ve looked elsewhere. As a kid, you might have looked to friends, but they called you names, moved away, or met girls. That seemed like a good idea. Girls. Like a cool, clear pond, in a harsh, difficult landscape. Women look like the answer to our question. So you went for a dip.
Like Jason and John, you may have experienced porn at a young age. And for a while, it seemed like such a relief. It felt like Song of Solomon 4:16, a woman offering herself to you. “I must be a man,” you thought. It seemed like the answer. But now you want out. Like Daniel and Ryan, maybe you look for validation from women through words, relationships, or sex. Whether you’re single, dating, or married, you have a history with looking to beauty for answers.
Like men, women were made in the image of God. They’re like Him. It’s no surprise we get confused and bring our question to women. They’re like Him, but they are not Him. When we bring our question to women, they let us down because they were never meant to hold us up.
Confusing women for God is just like worshiping any other idol. It’s the chief ploy of the serpent in the Garden. “Try this fruit; it’s everything you need.” It’s worshiping something God made instead of the God who made it, and it simply doesn’t work. And just like any other sin, Jesus died to wash it clean and set you free.
After you watch today’s video and read today’s Scriptures, take action. If you’re struggling with porn or any kind of sexual addiction, get help. Tell someone you love and a man you trust. Consider counseling and set up accountability. Use the link below the video for more help. Also, answer these questions. How have I brought my question to women? What can I start doing differently?
