THE ONE WHO NOTICES OUR SORROWS

When we’re hurting, it’s tempting to believe that we are alone. That no one cares. That we don’t matter. But we have the assurance, in God’s Word, that He sees, He hears, He knows, and He cares. And the psalmist announces that very promise in such beautiful words: “You keep track of all my sorrows.” This means that God keeps track of whatever hurts you experienced as a very young girl, maybe even before you can remember. And when others sin against you, God keeps track of those offenses. And what’s so very liberating about this promise is that because God is keeping track, we don’t need to! Instead, we have the confidence that we can leave our hurts and wounds in God’s care.

Prayer: This I know, God: You are on my side! And because You are on my side, I don’t have to nurse old hurts or offenses. In this moment, I release them into Your care. Amen.
