He Delights in Me

He rescued me because he delighted in me.

Psalm 18:19

This is a psalm of praise, written after the Lord rescued David from his enemies. Do you have enemies or situations that are too much to handle? Have you ever felt hemmed in or stuck in your circumstances? I have felt stuck and overwhelmed on many occasions, and God has faithfully pulled me out of every pit that I’ve found myself in.

God wants to be our support. When we call to Him, He hears us. When our lives are entangled with difficulties, He shields us. When we are backed into a corner, He moves on our behalf to bring us to a spacious place of blessing. He doesn’t do this because we’ve earned it, deserve it, or are good enough. He does all this because of who He is, not based on who we are.

Friend, He delights in you. He stands in every gap. Life is not perfect, but a loving God will draw you out of deep waters and troubles too big for your own strength. God is your rock; you are secure in His strength. God is your shield; you are covered. God is your stronghold; you can trust in His grip on your life.

Today I will remember:

• God rescues me because He delights in me.
• When I call out for help, He hears and moves on my behalf.
• He is everything I will ever need.

Lord, You rescue me from the messes in life and cause me to stand firm even when my feet are tired and life is confusing. May I always look first to You with every need.
