The Enneagram for Teens

DAY 14 OF 14

It’s Worth It

Well, friend, as we come to an end of our time together (I know, I’m sad about it too), I want to remind you that the Enneagram is just a tool and that you are, indeed, more than just your type. You can use this to help propel you toward your dreams and goals in life, but don’t give it too much importance. You’re more than a number on the Enneagram, more than your strengths, weaknesses, motivations, and unhealthy attributes. You are an amazing, complex, dynamic, miraculous creation of God, and I’m your biggest cheerleader as you step into a self-awareness that can equip you for a slightly easier journey through life. As you continue on this hike, backpack on and shoes laced, I hope you’ll explore new paths, pick up new tools, and meet some amazing people along the way.

A few years ago, my husband and I were hiking an eight-mile, mostly uphill trail in the Pacific Northwest when we met some of the most interesting people. You can create a short-lived but deeply felt bond when you get encouragement from those descending as you ask them, “Is it much farther? Is it worth it?”

Every time I asked that question, the person said, “It’s absolutely worth it. You can do it!” They could answer with confidence because they’d been there.

So as you wander through your Enneagram journey to discover more about who you are, it may be hard. You may have to face some things you’d rather keep hidden. You may learn things about yourself that feel uncomfortable. But as someone who has done the work and trekked the path before you, I’m here to tell you: It’s absolutely worth it. You can do it!
