We live in an information age. More than any other time in history, we have access to knowledge generations before us never could have imagined we would have. This comes with incredible benefits, of course, but it also comes with a few challenges. With so much information at our fingertips, there’s a lot we can know, but it can also provide us with more information than we know what to do with. A quick Internet search for something like the best recipe for homemade pizza, a remedy for poison ivy, or a major event in the news, and you get all kinds of information. The amount can feel overwhelming, right? It sometimes leaves you wondering which answer you can trust! This passage from the gospel of Matthew is something Jesus said during the 40 days He spent in the desert before beginning His ministry. When He was tempted in that time with food, Jesus responded by saying we, as humans, live on God’s Word. That’s because God’s Word offers us so much insight into how to live as God calls us to live. That’s what makes Scripture the best source for the answers we may be looking for in life. No, it can’t tell us how to make the best pizza in the world (though that would be cool!), but it can tell us what we need to know to follow God’s will for our lives.

Like Jesus, we can live on God’s Word, knowing it is the real, ultimate source of answers in our lives.
