Darkness to Destiny: Unleashing God’s Power in a Dark WorldSample

When we feel the moments of grief or anger, we often forget the first step we should be taking in our journey to healing: prayer. If we don’t take the time to step aside and let Him through the door — asking for His guidance in our journey to proper healing — He’ll never be able to help us. Consider the deaf man who also had a speech impediment in Mark Chapter 7. Several people brought to Him this man and begged Him for healing. Jesus, because He was cried out to by these people of faith, performed His miracle, opening the man’s ears and allowing him to speak clearly. The people around, having witnessed the miracle, rejoiced, saying, “...He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak” (Mark 7:37, NKJV). There might be easier and more convenient “fixes” to numb our hurt, but these fixes are temporary and superficial, and it will cause the pain, the heartbreak, the grief, to wound us much deeper when it does return. And it will return. However, what Jesus wants to do for us is to not merely numb our pain but to heal it. And to heal us in a way that lasts. We just need to remember to listen for His knocking.
