Darkness to Destiny: Unleashing God’s Power in a Dark WorldSample

One of the most wonderful things about having a personal relationship with Jesus is that in order to have one, He doesn’t require us to be perfect. He knows all of our sins and all of our flaws, and yet He desires us anyways. He promises to carry us when we need to be carried, and He promises to listen when we need a friend. In John Chapter 4, Jesus encounters a Samaritan woman by the well whom He asks for a drink. Jewish people normally didn’t deal with Samaritans, as stated in the Bible, so the woman was taken aback, equally so by the fact that Jesus knows of certain aspects of her life that others usually didn’t, such as her complex marital history. But during their conversation, Jesus comments that “...Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14, NKJV). The woman soon deciphers that this must be the Messiah. She takes this encounter and speaks of it in the city to others, and to those she calls to come have a similar experience, causing many others to be drawn to seek the same. Like this one, our encounters with Him revitalize us and allow us to keep moving forward on the path that He created for us. When we take the time to spend these precious moments with Him — to walk the paths He wants us to walk on — the Lord promises to transform us in ways we perhaps once didn’t know were possible.
