Learning to Hear God's VoiceSample

God speaks in many different ways – and He also speaks differently to different people. God created us uniquely, and there are no two people the same. Therefore, it makes sense that He communicates differently to different people.
Some people are creative, others are analytical. Some are subjective, some are more objective. Father knows our personalities and tendencies, so He will choose a way to speak to us that is deeply meaningful to us as an individuals. God will use our "language" to communicate His heart to us, so that we can hear exactly what He is saying. As any married couple will tell you, it’s not just what is said that is important, it is what is heard! We have filters that are individual and unique, so we are wired to hear differently.
There are many examples in Scripture of the different ways in which God speaks to His people. God speaks to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, in both His life and His words. God called to Moses from within a burning bush, and Elijah heard God in the still, small voice. God spoke through parables and spoke through prophets. He delivered messages through angels and even spoke through a donkey!
God in His sovereignty, will use whatever means He sees fit to speak to people. God can speak through dreams, visions, and prophetic insights. God uses other people to encourage us, bring wisdom, and teach us. The Lord speaks directly and clearly, but He also speaks in other ways. The names of God speak to us of His nature. Creation declares His glory and speaks to us of God’s divine power and wisdom.
Within the framework of God speaking in unique ways, we must always remember two vital truths: God desires to communicate with us, and God will always speak in alignment with His Word. Let’s not miss out on some of the greatest moments of God communicating with us, just because we are expecting it to look a certain way.
