Learning to Hear God's VoiceSample

When learning about hearing God’s voice, it is important to start in the right place. And we must always start with who God is! The Lord is All Present, All Knowing, and All Powerful. God is Spirit and He is Three In One, God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is beyond what we can ever understand, and He cannot be contained. He is from everlasting to everlasting, and He is always speaking.
God’s voice is life; He created life with the spoken Word. God is always speaking. He speaks with purpose, and He speaks with detail. There could be no revelation if God were not continually speaking.
Mankind was created because God is a relational God. God made us with the intellect and understanding to be able to communicate with Him. Father desires intimate relationship with each person, so He shares His character, His thoughts, His heart, and His ways with us.
A.W. Tozer says, “God is constantly trying to speak to men. He desires to communicate Himself, to impart holy ideas to those of His creatures capable of receiving them.”
God’s love for mankind compels Him to speak, because He cares about us as a Father. He cares about our future, and He cares about the whole world, particularly the salvation of the world.
If God is going to see the Great Commission fulfilled, and if He is going to see the calling and grace in each individual’s life fulfilled, then He has to keep speaking! We desperately need to hear His voice for daily guidance and instruction. God is focused on the big picture, but He also cares deeply about every detail of your life.
God is always speaking – the question is, are we listening?
