Learning to Hear God's VoiceSample

Learning to hear God’s voice comes from getting to know Him. Just like any relationship, the more we know someone, the easier we can recognize their voice. We need faith to hear God’s voice, and we grow in our faith by hearing the Word of God.
When it comes to hearing God speak, knowing the written Word of God is vital. God is the Word, and the Word speaks! While God is still speaking today, He has already spoken, and it has been recorded in the Bible. God is the Eternal Word, and He is the same yesterday, today and forever. God’s heart doesn’t change, so He will not declare something today that is totally contradictory to what He said thousands of years ago.
God did not just speak for a certain time, wrap it up in a book called the Bible, and then lapse into silence. God has never been silent - it is His nature to speak. The Scriptures will never become alive to us unless we are convinced that God is speaking in the present on a continual basis.
The Bible is not just a book of instructions, it is God’s letter of love and redemption towards mankind. Scripture shows us clear foundations for our relationship with the Lord, and how to get to know Him.
When we are saturating in God’s Word, it empowers us to discern what He is saying. Reading the Bible builds our confidence in knowing who God is and knowing how He speaks. Meditating on Scripture develops our boldness so that when we are in prayer and the Lord speaks, we recognize what is in alignment with Scripture. When we are intentional to spend time in the Word of God, then hearing His voice will become more instinctive.
