You are so valuable to God that He sends you into each day to share His light with those who are around you. The Bible calls believers the “light of the world.” God’s light is multiplied by those who decide to allow God to work through them to showcase His glorious, redeeming love through them. This love is displayed through your words, your tone, your actions, your affirmation, your reflection of Him, and even through your presence.

Matthew 5:14–16 says, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

But have you ever felt like God sent you into places where people didn't fully recognize the value you brought? You may have given your all in your job, a relationship, or in ministry, and you are still left wondering if your investment was worth your time. If you’ve had this thought, you are not alone, and this is a valid question to ask in a safe space like this one.

Allow me to affirm you in this moment with an inspired word from God. Know that if God sent you, the places He sends you are places where your gifts are NEEDED. This may not always be the same place that you will be celebrated. Take a moment to consider Jesus' journey. Jesus was celebrated in some places but despised and unappreciated in others. This is why our joy is anchored in the fact that Christ’s light is being spread in the world rather than in who celebrates it. We’ve established that God celebrates you, and this is the height of acknowledgement.

We are brought to the significant realization that Jesus himself reassures you that there is nothing you have given up for the sake of God that He will not multiply a hundred times for you in this present life.

Mark 10:29–30 says, “’Truly I tell you,’ Jesus replied, ‘no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.”

Your value doesn't come from the people God sends you to. Your value comes from the God in you. You are so valuable to Him that He acknowledges your faithfulness, your dedication, and your obedience. As a result, He will cause your entire life to produce a beautiful return on your value. Trust God—He is faithful.

Even if you don't always receive a "thank you" where you shine your light, know that you will always be blessed by God because you did. He enjoys seeing you walk in your value, which is best demonstrated by your actions . . . your love for yourself and your love for others. Every day that you invest in serving those you've been sent to, you're allowing Christ's light to shine through you, and you're giving glory to God. At the end of each day, this is what matters!

Go forward knowing that you are empowered by God’s great love for you, and embrace the fact that God sees and knows and is blessing you a hundred times over through His great love for you. You are worthy.

Today’s Affirmation:

I am light in this world, sent by God with purpose. I remain secure in the truth that I am deeply valued by the One who sent me. My presence carries the brilliance of Christ, and I shine not for applause but for God’s glory. Every word I speak, every act of kindness, every space I enter, radiates His love. I trust that the God who sees all is multiplying my obedience and honoring my sacrifice. I am not overlooked. I am not forgotten. I am seen, known, and celebrated by my God and in Heaven. And that is more than enough.
