Faithful Father

The Lord knows our frailties. He sees our weaknesses fully and loves us extravagantly. He is gentle toward us because he knows that we are limited in our strength and understanding. He never expects us to be perfect. Instead, he meets us at our weakest point with mercy and grace. He generously offers us his strength when we need it most. He is gentle and compassionate with us in the midst of our failures.

God’s gentleness is meant to teach us how to treat others. He is not harsh, critical, or rude toward us, and our actions should reflect his character. We should take special care in the way we behave toward those who are weaker than we are. We are supposed to be gentle and kind, never taking advantage of the weaknesses of other people. It’s easy to exploit someone’s weakness, but it takes thoughtfulness and patience to treat others how we want to be treated. The good news is that God always equips us to follow through with his commands. He gives us the strength to be kind even when we can’t muster it up on our own.

This is especially important in how you relate to your grandchildren. They are in a vulnerable season of life, and they are always growing and changing. They will make mistakes, cause frustration, and test your patience. Your gentleness toward your grandchildren reflects God’s gentleness toward you. The way that you value, encourage, and cherish them speaks of God’s tender love. Your kindness will help them see that God’s love is patient, kind, and faithful no matter how many mistakes they make. Your nurturing love will help them understand God’s nurturing love. He provides shelter for those who are vulnerable, and he equips those who need help. He lifts up the lowly and protects the weak. He is a good and faithful father.
