God’s Strengthening Word: Mercy & ForgivenessSample

Introduction
Genesis 44:18–34: Judah pleads with Joseph for Benjamin and offers to become Joseph’s slave in place of Benjamin.
Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 44:32 GNT
[Judah said:] “I pledged my life to my father for the boy. I told him that if I did not bring the boy back to him, I would bear the blame all my life.”
Reflect
Judah offers to take Benjamin’s place as a slave to fulfill the promise he made to Jacob to bring Benjamin safely back home (43:8–9). When Judah pleads for Benjamin, what does he say to Joseph? What does Joseph learn that he did not know before?
Pray
Gracious God, I come before you this day with a humble and repentant heart, trusting in your steadfast love and mercy. Knowing that I can turn my worries and cares over to you fills me with gratitude and peace. Thank you, Lord God, for your constant faithfulness. Amen.
