God’s Strengthening Word: Mercy & ForgivenessSample

Introduction
Genesis 49:29—50:14: After blessing his sons (see 49:1–28), Jacob dies and Joseph arranges for his father’s body to be embalmed and then buried in Canaan.
Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 50:14 GNT
After Joseph had buried his father, he returned to Egypt with his brothers and all who had gone with him for the funeral.
Reflect
What were Jacob’s instructions to his sons regarding his burial? Following a period of mourning, what message did Joseph send to the king? Have you ever had to plan funeral arrangements for a loved one? If so, are there ways in which you saw God’s hand at work in the process? Explain.
Pray
Lord, your word is enduring and you promise an eternal inheritance. Give me confidence in you and help me to be faithful to keep my own promises. Amen.
