God’s Strengthening Word: Mercy & ForgivenessSample

Introduction
Psalm 78:40–72: Today’s reading continues to catalog the people’s rebellious ways and the consequences of their disobedience, along with describing God’s mighty acts in rescuing them from Egypt. The psalm concludes with God choosing David to be king of Israel.
Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 78:52 GNT
Then he led his people out like a shepherd and guided them through the desert.
Reflect
Verse 41 states that the people “put God to the test and brought pain to the Holy God of Israel.” What verses speak of the people’s unfaithfulness? What verses speak of God’s mercy and care? What does today’s reading teach you about God?
Pray
Almighty God, you are merciful and always ready to forgive when we turn to you. May I remember each day how you continue to love and watch over me and embrace me in your steadfast care. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 80: A prayer for a nation’s restoration.
