Not Giving Into Fear and Peer Pressure: Devotions for Girls (I Am Fearless)Sample

Think back to a time you were afraid. We all are fearful sometimes, and it can help to have someone encourage us in these moments.
After Deborah told one of the Israelite military leaders named Barak that God commanded him to bring His troops against Sisera, he was afraid.
Barak decided to ask Deborah to go with him. Deborah was a strong woman who found her strength in the Lord, and it rubbed off on Barak.
Surrounding yourself with people who follow the Lord can help you be more courageous, too, when you feel afraid.
Reflection:
When was a time someone helped you when you were afraid?
Who is someone you could call on when you feel this way?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that I am fearless. Please give me confidence like You gave to Deborah. And, when I am afraid, help me to call on people who can encourage me. In Jesus' name, amen.
Action:
Next time you're afraid, call on someone who can help encourage you to have confidence in the Lord.

About this Plan

When Deborah was afraid, she trusted in the Lord, and when others were afraid, they looked to her. Girls will gain wisdom about not giving in to fear or peer pressure by looking at Deborah's example. These devotions are based on the "I am Fearless" chapter from "I am Yours: Prayers For God's Girl" by Wynter Pitts. Each devotion has a short teaching, reflection question(s), prayer, and action step. On their own or with a parent, girls can enjoy connecting with the Lord and growing in their faith a day at a time!
