Not Giving Into Fear and Peer Pressure: Devotions for Girls (I Am Fearless)

DAY 3 OF 5

If you play a sport, you know that you need a game plan and strategy to do your best. It's the same when you feel afraid. To overcome fear, you need a strategy.

When Barak was afraid, Deborah spoke truth and confidence to him. In Judges 4:14-15 (NIV), Deborah told him, "'Go! This is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?' So Barak went ..."

Deborah's strategy was trusting in the Lord, knowing He went ahead of her. Some things that can help us rely on the Lord are reading the Bible, believing it, and memorizing it. Your confidence in the Lord and in who you are will grow from doing that, just like Deborah's did.

Reflection:

What do Deborah's words, "Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?", say about her trust in the Lord?

How can knowing the Lord has gone ahead of you help you not to fear?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You that I am fearless. When I am afraid, remind me that You go ahead of me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Action:

Unscramble the words for a powerful message to hold in your heart.

About this Plan

Not Giving Into Fear and Peer Pressure: Devotions for Girls (I Am Fearless)

When Deborah was afraid, she trusted in the Lord, and when others were afraid, they looked to her. Girls will gain wisdom about not giving in to fear or peer pressure by looking at Deborah's example. These devotions are based on the "I am Fearless" chapter from "I am Yours: Prayers For God's Girl" by Wynter Pitts. Each devotion has a short teaching, reflection question(s), prayer, and action step. On their own or with a parent, girls can enjoy connecting with the Lord and growing in their faith a day at a time!
