Ways to Overcome Your Fears: Devotions for Girls (I Am Fearless)Sample

It was wise of Jesus to use Scripture to put Satan in his place. But, do you know that Satan used Scripture to try to take advantage of Jesus? Do you think it worked? Of course not!

Jesus knew that Satan was using it in the wrong way to try and manipulate Him. Jesus basically told him to back off by saying in Matthew 4:7 (NIV), "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" I just want to cheer, Go Jesus! I love how Jesus used Scripture to prove a point.

Sometimes in life, people will try to manipulate us and get us to do the wrong thing by making it look like the right thing. In these times, we can read Scripture, pray, and ask God for wisdom, and He will show us the right way to walk.

Reflection:

Is there a time someone tried to get you to do the wrong thing? What happened?

How can we use Jesus' response to help us when someone tries to get us to do the wrong thing?

Prayer:

Lord, thank you that I am Fearless. And, thank you for Scripture! Help me to use it to discern right from wrong. Give me wisdom to know people who are not good influences, and people who are good to be around. In Jesus' name, amen.

Action:

Sit in a favorite spot or take a walk and think through some temptations you have. Ask God to bring Scriptures to your mind to help you fight them.
