30 Day Battle-Ready Challenge - Leadership for Christian MenSample

Day 10: Speak Life
Reflection: The words we speak as men carry tremendous weight. They should be treated like loaded weapons, yet far too often, we toss them around like ping pong balls. Our lack of precision in speech has gotten out of hand—and it’s time for corrective action.
Think back to the coaches you’ve had in your life. I can vividly recall those who spoke encouragement into me as a young athlete. They corrected me when I needed it, but always in a way that pushed me to grow and improve.
On the other hand, I also remember the ones who spoke nothing but criticism. One moment stands out: after a tough loss, a coach told me I was the reason we lost—because of one play. The truth? That game was lost for a dozen reasons, but he never spoke words of affirmation—only condemnation. That attitude created bitterness among the players, and when he eventually left the team, it was celebrated.
What’s interesting is that both examples are memorable, yet the negative experience is easier to recall in detail. That reality drives home today’s truth: our words matter deeply.
Just as a sniper takes careful aim with precision, so should we with our words. A single slip of the tongue can break trust, wound hearts, and—perhaps worst of all—become a stumbling block in someone’s walk with Christ.
As you reflect on today’s verse, recognize the incredible power you hold every time you speak. Choose words that build up, not tear down. Be intentional. Be precise. And above all, use your words to glorify Him in everything you do.
Mission: Encourage someone each day—out loud. Be intentional. Be specific. Imagine being known as the “Chief Encouragement Officer” in your home, workplace, or community.
Field Order: New habits start with one action: pick one person today—your spouse, a child, or a coworker—and speak words of encouragement directly to them. Not a text. Your voice. Your words.
