Day 9: Eyes on the Commander

Reflection: Distractions may be the enemy’s most effective weapon to render men ineffective. The tricky part? What distracts me may not distract you. For example, Instagram isn’t a stumbling block for me—I don’t even have it on my phone. But every time something happens on our Lion Within Us platform, my phone lights up.

The truth is, the enemy wants us to believe distractions are inevitable and uncontrollable. But God calls us to something greater: diligence.

The writer of Hebrews commands us to fix our eyes on Jesus because he understood how easily our gaze drifts. From women to hobbies to work, there’s a constant stream of demands vying for our attention. And here’s the reality: your time is one of the most precious resources God has entrusted to you. A battle-ready warrior knows this and fights to steward it well.

Distractions will shift with seasons of life—what trips up a 20-year-old isn’t the same for a 70-year-old (except women… let’s be honest, that one tends to linger—half kidding!). The point is this: the fight never ends.

Practically, this verse calls us to set guardrails for our eyes and hearts—intentionally seeking what draws us closer to Christ and pruning what pulls us away. Diligence means recognizing the drift and course-correcting quickly.
