30 Day Battle-Ready Challenge - Leadership for Christian MenSample

Day 2: Strength Under Control
Reflection: If you ever get the chance to spend time around a horse—take it. The average horse weighs around 1,000 pounds and is essentially one massive, living muscle. Yet under proper training, that raw power becomes focused, purposeful strength. I’ve seen three-year-old girls walk alongside and ride these animals with total confidence and ease.
Has the horse lost its strength through training? Absolutely not. In fact, studies show that trained horses live longer, perform better, and are more capable than their wild counterparts.
So what does that mean for us? Let’s start by reframing the word meek. Too many men confuse meekness with weakness. But biblical meekness is anything but soft. It’s strength—under control.
One of the most powerful forces on earth is a man who is fully rooted in who God has called him to be. He doesn’t need to prove his might because his confidence is anchored in the Lord. Real strength isn’t reckless or loud—it’s steady, humble, and unwavering. A true warrior knows when to stand, when to fight, and when to yield.
Like the horse above we want our training to be instinctual, and the way to ensure our training is instinctual is to continue on a day to day basis to be in contact with God and to reflect on our experiences.
Mission: Identify one area in your life that’s been difficult for you to control. Maybe it’s the words you speak when frustrated. Maybe it’s how you react when things don’t go your way. Get honest. Look in the mirror and ask the hard questions.
Field Order: Share that area with a trusted brother in Christ today. Let him know what you’ve identified, and invite him to hold you accountable. Give him permission to call you out when you slip. This is where iron sharpens iron.
