Why Not You: Believing What God Believes About YouSample

Your Identity Is Secure in Christ
Philippians 3:7, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Matthew 16:26
The lie: I don’t amount to much. I don’t even know who I am, what I offer, or why I’m here.
The truth: When we have the right frame of mind and see our identity in Christ, it frees us to realize we are not tied to the labels others give us or the accomplishments we have achieved. Philippians 3:7 says, “But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.” Paul was conveying that no gain came from his worldly success compared to living out Jesus’ purpose. As it says in Matthew 16:26, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?” The reason you and I often struggle is because we have attached our identity to trophies and titles rather than to Christ.
You are not a fraud. But you are also not a CEO, CFO, athlete, artist, award winner, chef, champion, or teacher of the year. These are activities and accolades you may have been recognized for. They are not your identity. Don’t want to be an imposter? Find your identity in Christ.
How? First, receive the concrete reality God wants to speak over you today: Your life is meaningful. Your life is significant. God formed you and fashioned you in your mother’s womb. He predetermined your steps and organized your way. He has spoken over you. The question is: Will you receive what He has put in motion in your life?
God did not make a mistake when He made you. When the Bible says we must tear down every lofty opinion, that includes the inner critic and the inner dialogue that says, I’m not enough. I don’t do enough. I’m not good enough. I don’t have enough.
Let God Almighty speak over you: You are enough. You are already chosen, already worthy, already enough. Let the doubts and the insecurities go. This is your time. Be confident in who God says you are and the value you bring. What is happening is not by accident. You have been prepared for this moment.
Heavenly Father, how powerful it is to remember that in You, I am secure. I matter. My identity is not in what I do or what I have, but fully in Christ, by grace. Thank You! Amen.
About this Plan

When we are tempted to believe lies about ourselves—that we lack value, we aren’t skilled or experienced, we’re too weak to make a difference, God has no use for us—it is wise to counter them with the promises of God’s Word: that He loves, cherishes, and has a vital role for each of us in His plans. Let’s look at five ways to replace those lies with truth.
