Dear Lord Jesus,

We gather here today with thanksgiving on our hearts and minds. We praise You today that we know WHO to be thankful to. We are not merely thankful as a state of mind or thankful to some inanimate “power” … we are THANKFUL TO YOU, our mighty God, for You are the giver of all good things.

We thank You for how You have provided for us physically:

• Food to eat
• Water to drink
• Places to live
• Meaningful work to do
• Oxygen to breathe
• Beauty to admire
• Tastes to savor
• Cool breezes on hot days
• Warm fires on cold nights
• Sunsets
• Starry nights

We thank You for all these things and more, because You are the creator of it all.

We also thank You for how You provide for us spiritually:

• Forgiveness for our sins
• Adopting us as Your children
• Filling us with Your Spirit
• Maturing us into Christlikeness
• Providing direction and encouragement through Your Word
• Providing comfort and accountability through Your church
• The hope that life after death brings to us today
• The stability of Your promise to be with us always and to never leave us or forsake us

We thank You because without You, we would be devoid of all these blessings.

So we thank You, Jesus, for who You are and for all You have done and are doing for us.

In Your gracious name we pray, AMEN
