Day 5. Courage When Respect Never Comes

You’ve carried this weight long enough—ignored, overlooked, unappreciated. Anger rises, jealousy stings, words cut, and the grind leaves you drained. God doesn’t leave you stuck there. He calls you to courage because he is with you wherever you go.

“Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the LORD your God, am with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 GNT)

Joshua stood on the edge of responsibility he couldn’t handle on his own. God didn’t hand him new tools or promises of easy days. He gave him one command: be strong and courageous, because I am with you.

At work, you may never get the respect you deserve. But courage isn’t built on your boss’s opinion—it’s built on God’s presence. He’s the one who goes with you into every meeting, every shift, every hard conversation.

This week you’ve been reminded:

• hold anger in check (James 1:19–20),
• resist comparison (1 Samuel 18:6–9),
• don’t take the bait when mocked (1 Samuel 17:28–29), and
• put off anger for the new self (Colossians 3:7–10).

Now the call is steady but straightforward: live it with courage, because God is with you.

Prayer

Father, I confess that being overlooked wears me down. Forgive me when I let anger, jealousy, and frustration take root. Thank you for reminding me that my worth comes from you, not from anyone’s approval. Give me the courage to stand steady, to keep working with faith and honesty, and to trust your presence when I feel unseen. Strengthen me to live with confidence that you are with me wherever I go. Amen.
