Faith in the Ordinary - a 5 Day Journey Through the Book of Colossians Sample

Much of faith is lived in hidden places, away from the social media posts and big smiles in church, but instead it’s in prayer, in integrity when no one’s watching, in perseverance when we struggle to see the fruit. Colossians reminds us to set our hearts on Christ above all else. Hope anchors us in ordinary seasons when progress feels invisible.
I’ve never been a big fan of puzzles. I’ve always found the process of trying to fit the right pieces together really frustrating. But what has helped me persevere is seeing the end product. When I look at the box and see what it’s supposed to look like, I find the strength to keep going, because I know the end looks good!
This plays out in many areas of my life. When I know what the end looks like, it gives me the courage to press through the process.
In the same way, when we set our hearts and minds on things above, we’re doing just that. We’re fixing our attention, our affection, and our gaze on the end goal, on the reality that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. Keeping our eyes on Him gives us the strength to live out our faith in the everyday, ordinary moments of life.
Reflection:
How can you shift your focus from what’s seen to what’s eternal this week?
Prayer:
“Jesus, help me set my heart on You and trust You in the hidden places.”

About this Plan

Life is often lived in the ordinary; in school, at work, in our homes, in conversations with friends. Yet God meets us there. The book of Colossians reminds us that Christ is supreme, and that His presence transforms even the most mundane moments into opportunities for faith, hope, and love. This plan will help you see the extraordinary in the ordinary and inspire you to live your faith out loud where God has placed you.
