Keeping Godly Relationships

DAY 2 OF 4

TO WHAT END?

You have found yourself a relationship, but to what end? Is it a new friendship, new connection, new acquaintance, or even a new relationship intended for marriage? Is God in it with you? What do you stand to gain in that relationship you have just initiated? Would it lead to a Godly purpose? Does it have substance? Do you have faith in that relationship? These and many more questions are what you should ask yourself before getting drenched by the rain of making wrong decisions. Be aware that when you say 'yes' to something, you're definitely saying 'no' to another. What is that relationship saying yes to and vice versa?

When you walk with the wise, you'll also be wise but reverse is the case when you find yourself in the companion of fools (Proverbs 13:20). It is that simple. That relationship will either lead you to Wisdom or lead you to destruction. Jesus is the Wisdom of God. If that relationship is therefore not leading you to Jesus, know that it is leading you definitely to destruction. There is no room for being in-between. Remember we discussed yesterday that the fear of God is wisdom (Job 28:28). If that relationship indulges you in behaviours, actions, or conversations that lack the fear of God, that relationship is only bottling up companions of fools. However, when the sole purpose of a relationship is to please God, such cistern of a relationship will definitely hold water.

Do not be exposed to attack from the pit of hell by being a companion of fools. Walk with the wise and head for wisdom. Understand that it is not just about how that relationship started but to what end it leads you. Are you in any form of relationship at the moment, ask yourself that sincere question - TO WHAT END?
