DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5 — Creating A Biblical Lifestyle

How many of us long for a life that remains steady no matter what happens around us? All hands up! How many of us want to face difficult decisions without being overwhelmed by anxiety and fear, collapsing under pressure, or being put through unpredictable seasons without losing the sense of direction? Me!

The good news is that this level of stability is absolutely possible. Jesus tells us exactly how: “Everyone then who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24-25, ESV).

Through the words of Jesus, our lives are compared to a house built on the rock — stable, unshakable, and able to withstand even the fiercest storm — but this happens only when the Word is applied and lived. The stability we long for is not an abstract concept or a personality trait we must develop on our own; it is the natural result of a life founded on Christ, the unchanging and immovable Rock Himself (see 1 Corinthians 10:4).

A life built on the Rock is a life that takes what Christ says and translates it into action. It is in the union between what we hear and the way we choose to live, which brings us to the very heart of walking with Jesus:

Information + Application = Transformation.

This is how Scripture becomes life within us. Information is what we receive when we read the Word: light, Truth, correction, and direction. Application is our concrete response to what God reveals to us. Transformation is what happens when God’s voice meets our decision to live out what we have understood.

It is in this meeting point that our character changes, our vision clears, and our identity strengthens. As Paul writes, “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18, ESV). The Spirit is the One who produces transformation within us, but it is through our daily obedience — expressed in choices aligned with Scripture—that this transformation becomes visible.

Choosing to be doers of the Word means defining and building the framework within our character, decisions, and testimony. It means:

  • Speaking the truth in love, choosing words that build rather than wound (Ephesians 4:15).
  • Walking in integrity, maintaining consistency between what we profess and what we live (Proverbs 10:9).
  • Using our words intentionally, aware that they carry the power to build up or tear down (Proverbs 18:21).
  • Forgiving quickly, choosing freedom over resentment (Colossians 3:13).
  • Working with excellence, offering our best as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24).
  • Being generous, offering encouragement and support where it is needed (Proverbs 11:25).

A life lived in this way produces visible transformation — a maturity that shows up in the way we handle pressure, in the calmness of our responses, in the clarity of our decisions, in the excellence of our work, and in the grace we bring into our relationships.

This is how information becomes application, and application becomes transformation — leading to a lifestyle built on the Rock, steady, whole, and capable of making a real impact.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that Your Word is a practical guide for every area of my life. Let my life speak of You more loudly than my words ever could. Make me a woman built on the Rock, able to carry the transformation that comes from living Your Word wherever I go. Amen.
