He Sees You

In my journey as a single parent, after having my daughter out of wedlock during my first year of university, I experienced many moments where I felt completely out of place. I didn’t fit in with the young people in my youth group who had no children, nor did I belong with the married women who did.

I silently carried a deep sense of shame and guilt. More than anything, I wanted to be invisible, unseen, and unheard, just trying to make it through life unnoticed.

But deep down, I often wondered: How does God see me? What does He truly feel about me? Even though I heard countless sermons about His redemptive love and forgiveness, a part of me questioned whether that same redemption applied to me. Sure, He forgave me and accepted me, but what now? I longed for a personal encounter with His love.

Then one day, as I read Genesis 16, the story of Hagar—the foreign slave woman—I saw myself in her story. Like me, she didn’t belong. And yet, when she cried out to God in her desperation, He heard her from the high heavens and met her personally.

The God of the universe—Creator of all—heard the desperate cries of a woman others overlooked.

Could He hear my silent cries, too?
Could He care that much?
Could He really see me?

The answer didn’t come instantly. No angel appeared with divine instructions for my future. But as I walked with Him day by day, through trials, tears, and small victories, I began to realize something profound: Yes, He sees me.

He cares deeply.
He walks beside me faithfully.
And He strengthens me daily with His quiet presence and tender love.

It is my prayer for you today that you, too, will encounter El Roi—the God who sees you. When you can’t find the words to pray, your tears are enough.

Yes—He sees. He hears. And He cares.
