Strength to Say No
Many understand holiness as simply keeping a set of rules. Yet it is the beautiful lifestyle of a believer who loves God and desires to honour Him. But living a life that pleases God doesn’t depend solely on human strength. We need grace.
Titus 2:11–12 reminds us that “the grace of God teaches us to say no to ungodliness.” Grace is God’s empowerment. It strengthens your convictions, renews your mind, and gives you the courage to make godly choices even when temptation feels strong.
Dangerous influences can weaken a believer’s commitment. Some people are assigned to destroy purity—spiritually, sexually, or morally. Their presence gradually dulls your sensitivity to God. You start justifying small compromises. You ignore early warnings from the Holy Spirit. You silence the discomfort in your heart. Suddenly, you’re not as passionate, prayerful, or discerning as you used to be.
But God does not abandon you to your weaknesses. He gives grace—strong, practical, sustaining grace.
Grace gives you clarity to see a temptation before it becomes a trap.
Grace gives you the courage to say “No” even when your emotions say “Yes.”
Grace gives you wisdom to step back from relationships that weaken your spiritual life.
Grace gives you the humility to seek accountability when needed.
Grace gives you the strength to walk in purity in a world pushing compromise.
Purity is not perfection; it is direction. Purity is a daily choice to walk toward God, not away from Him. Even if you have fallen before, God’s grace restores you, strengthens you, and empowers you to walk uprightly.
In Proverbs 7, the young man lacked understanding and direction. He walked into trouble because he ignored the wisdom available to him. But you’re not that young man. You have the Holy Spirit. You have Scripture. You have access to God’s grace.
Today, lift your hands and say,
“Father, I receive grace to say no to ungodliness.”
“I receive grace to walk in purity, wisdom, and discipline.”
God delights in strengthening you. He doesn’t shame you for your struggles. He gives you tools to overcome. As you commit your heart to Him, He will guide your choices, preserve your purity, and multiply your strength.
