HOPE
Before an airplane goes into mass production, its most important parts are tested inside and out. Engineers fasten the wings, apply pressure, bend, stretch, and heat them. They want to know: will the material hold even when the conditions become extreme? No manufacturer would build a plane that only remains stable in the calm. It has to be strong enough to endure turbulence — not because anyone seeks the storm, but because everyone knows it will come.
Of course, even the best airplane doesn’t constantly face turbulence. Most of the time it flies smoothly, safely, and steadily. Only on certain parts of the journey is it truly shaken. Our walk with God is similar: not every stretch is a battle, not every day a stress test. But when the storm comes, that’s when we see what has grown inside of us. God uses the calm seasons to prepare us for the stormy ones.
Our faith proves its strength not in the easy moments, but especially when life pushes and pulls on us. Paul writes that it is precisely difficult times that shape us. We become more patient, stronger, and more hopeful. Hope doesn’t come because everything goes smoothly, but because we experience God’s sustaining power in the midst of pressure.
Sometimes we long for a life without tension. But God knows that those very pressures shape us. He doesn’t send the pressure, but He uses it. Every challenge, setback, and uncertainty is like a stress test for our faith — and with each test, it becomes more evident that God’s power is at work in us.
Hope isn’t a fleeting feeling that comes and goes. It grows deep within us — in the places where we’ve learned to stand firm. Paul reminds us: this hope will not disappoint, because it’s founded on God’s love — a love He has poured into our hearts through His Spirit.
So if you’re feeling pressure right now, don’t view it only as a burden. Perhaps it’s God’s way of strengthening something in you that will carry you through — a hope that withstands the storms. Because only what has been tested can truly bear weight later.
Begin today by thanking Jesus — even for the challenges. Trust more in His ability to carry you through than in your ability to control everything. Thank Him in advance for the good that will come from your current situation — for you and for others.
