UNTIL THE END

When a runner crosses the finish line, all the tension falls away. His lungs burn, his legs feel heavy — yet he’s filled with deep joy. He knows: I made it. The race was hard, but it was worth it.

That’s how Paul describes his own life as he senses that his time on this earth is coming to an end. He doesn’t look back in bitterness but with peace. He knows: he has fought the good fight of faith, finished the race, and held on to Jesus — despite everything that stood against him.

Paul’s life was marked at times by opposition, disappointment, and suffering. He was persecuted, beaten, betrayed, and abandoned. But he kept going because he knew for whom he was running. His focus wasn’t success, recognition, or safety — it was Jesus. He lived with the awareness that life here is only the race, not the crown.

At the end of his journey, Paul was certain that what awaited him was imperishable. He didn’t see an earthly prize before him but an eternal reward — the joy of meeting his Lord. Everything that had once felt heavy faded in the light of what was to come.

His life was an example of what he had written to others again and again: don’t give up, don’t fix your eyes on what is seen, but on what lasts. Because even though our outer self grows weaker, God renews our inner self day by day.

Paul knew: the goal isn’t to be celebrated, but to remain faithful to Jesus — to the very end. He understood that life is not a sprint but a race of endurance and devotion. And in the end, it doesn’t matter how fast you were, but that you never stopped running.

One day, we too will look back. Maybe we’ll see victories and failures, joy and pain. But if Jesus has remained the center, it will all make sense. Because nothing we entrust to Him is ever in vain.

So — keep running your race. With endurance. With trust. With joy. Keep your eyes fixed on the goal — on Jesus, who is waiting for you at the finish line. He is the prize worth every step.
