DAY 16 OF 17

READ Psalm 103:1-22.

As we saw yesterday, we are reminded in Psalm 103 to “bless the LORD and forget not any of His benefits.” So what are the benefits of the Lord that David did not want us to forget?

We are not to forget His:

  • Forgiveness (103:3a, 8-12). Though we are sinners, God is gracious and will forgive us our sin when we confess it to Him. The death Jesus died on the cross paid the penalty our sin deserved so we are freed from its ultimate consequence. Bless the Lord today for the forgiveness He has granted!
  • Healing (103:3b). Ultimately, God will heal the physical infirmities we deal with today. Sometimes God will heal us in this life, but eventually we know our physical suffering will be left behind as we enter into glory. Thank God in advance for the assurance we have that our illnesses are temporary.
  • New life (103:4-5). If we are in Christ, we are saved from the consequences of sin. We are crowned with love and mercy and satisfied with His goodness. We long for peace and joy in life, and Jesus makes that possible. Bless the Lord for the new life He has given you!
  • Righteous rule (103:6-7, 19). The Lord will one day establish His kingdom upon the earth and will reign with wisdom and justice. We worry about the leadership of government and institutions on this earth, but one day He will establish something better. Thank Him for the leadership He provides now and will multiply later.
  • Unending love (103:13-18). Our God is our compassionate Father. Though our lives are short (103:14-16), His love is unending (103:17). Bless Him today for His never-ending love!

David wants the praise of the Lord to be an “all skate.” That all would speak up and bless the Lord and forget none of His benefits!
