DAY 2 OF 3

The Filter Guard

The echoes within the walls of your heart produce a sound that your body recognizes, causing your body to function according to the unity of your organs. You have a spiritual heart that hears the thoughts that flow through the hallway of your mind to the attic of your heart, all carrying messages and instructions that will help you walk in God’s best for your life.

Sometimes there is clutter and hearing the voice of God can be difficult, kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack; the uncertainty of it all. What you allow into your heart will dictate the course of your life “Guard your heart above all else for it determines the course of your life.” (Proverbs 4:23 NLT) Whose voice are you listening to? What do you allow to be planted in your heart? What words, shows, or songs are you listening to? How about the visions that your eyes capture as you look at the world around you? Remember all these things shape you overtime.

Did you know that coffee is filtered in order to trap oily substances in it that are known as diterpenes? You need to have a filter at the base of your heart in order to trap the toxic substances that want to slither their way in your life through the entrance of your heart. Your filter needs answers to 3 important questions before letting your guard down.

1.Does this glorify God

Whatever enters your soul membrane has to be tested, through intentional submission to the word of God, (1Thessalonians 5:21) using it as a mirror to show you the hidden truths behind what you are hearing, watching or speaking. One vessel of God we read about that had his own tests & trials when it came to recognizing the voice of God was Samuel. After the 3rd time that God called him, the prophet Eli who was with him and could discern God's voice finally realized that it was the Lord God Almighty calling Samuel into the secret place where he could get divine revelations and instructions. (1 Samuel 3:1-10).

Discerning Gods voice begins by knowing His word. If you feel in your heart that you should move to another city, quit your job, or start mentoring people around you, test it with the word of God first and see if it is glorifying to Him or your flesh.

2.Does it heighten my faith or fears

Whatever you entertain feeds either your faith or your fears, there are moments when your soul is filled with so much faith that mountains begin to move as confidence oozes out of you, but then there are those moments too when you are crippled with so much fear that it vacuums up all the little hope you were holding on to. Fear is the absence of faith and these two cannot exist simultaneously, one will overpower the other. Observe how you feel, and from there know whether you will be watering the garden of those seeds through your actions or putting your gloves on to uproot them.

3.Is my vision made more clear or blurry

When driving, the steering wheel is what directs the car which way to go and through the windscreen you can see what is ahead of you. You could somewhat say the steering acts as the ears and listens to the driver as the windscreen is the vision the car follows. Scientifically speaking your eyes and ears are intertwined, spiritually speaking this is no different… if what you are hearing/ listening to blurs your vision you are most likely listening to the wrong voice. When God speaks, things will get clearer maybe not easier, but because His word lights up your path you will see where you are going and have direction.

Victory is not just attained on a battlefield but within you first and foremost. With a renewed mindset and filters in place, it’s a clear road ahead of walking in victory daily. De-clutter your spirit with the word of God so you can walk boldly and confidently in all that God has for you this year.

Prayer

Heavenly father, I thank you for who you have called me to be: one who bears your image and one that is equipped with your strength. Thank you, Lord, that you have also filled me with purpose and vision. Abba, I ask that you help me hear your voice more clearly, wash my eyes with the water of your word and may my perspective be from your angle and not from my limited earthly one. Help me to be obedient to your instructions, walking by faith and bringing glory to your name in all that I do always.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

About this Plan

Victorious

Walking in Victory is what we are called to do every single day, not because of our own strength or abilities but because of Jesus Christ, who is the definition of victory. He tells us that we are more than conquerors through Him, and therefore defeat should never be a place we choose to dwell. This 3-day devotional is a great reminder that all we need to overcome has already been given to us through God's word and the tools in it to live a life of victory in every season and circumstance.
