DAY 3 OF 3

Tongue of the Wise

You’ve probably heard it said so many times to you before but allow me to say it to you once again, your words have power. Life is formed from the very words that roll off your tongue, words that will either build or destroy, words that will either heal or bring pain. Victory is linked to your speech. What words are you speaking over your situation? Because what you declare is what you will walk in.

There is a supernatural connection with what happens when you speak and what occurs in the unseen realm, oblivious to you, you may think nothing of your words, but those words carry power and are activated from the moment you speak them, regardless of what you may have said. In (Mathew 21:18-22) we see a glimpse of what this looks like, our master Jesus spoke to the fig tree and commanded it to wither because it was bearing no fruit and shortly after, it began to wither. His words caused a supernatural shift in the unseen realm that began to physically be revealed by the tree withering away.

The book of wisdom says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21)There is a fruit of it because there is a seed to it; the seeds are your words. Being an overcomer begins with the language you speak to yourself and around you. Declaring “I’m not good enough” contradicts what Christ has said about you. He says you are more precious than rubies (Proverbs 3:15). He says you are His perfect workmanship (Ephesians 2:10). He calls you a royal priesthood, a Holy nation, a peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9). Uproot the words that have been spoken contrary to what the Word of God says and begin sowing words of love, peace and God’s truth.

As boneless as the tongue is, it has been used to light up fires and start wars that were avoidable, what’s not emphasized though is how the tongue can speak life, hope & healing. When you are in a battle you are going to get bruised, tired and even feel defeated sometimes, but that’s not your cue to say, “Alright I'm just gonna quit now because I'm tired and frustrated” Your brain would automatically go on vacation mode with the sign “Do not disturb” at the door, all because you chose the easy route out. Jesus faced a difficult battle before Him where He was beaten and bruised, spat on and slapped, pierced with nails and hung to a cross, but He never at any point said “well, this is not what I bargained for so let me head out” no, He endured, He held on to the father. He fought with His obedience! He fought through prayer; He fought by surrendering to God! Through His perseverance the battle was won for us!

Your words are a sword in the realm of the spirit. Within the fibers of the sword are scriptures embedded on the steel design. The edges of the sword are sharper than a thin lined glass that would cut you if you tried to touch it. This sword you have glistens and has a glaze like how lightning hits an electric pole; frightening, yet powerful. This sword has been given to you by God (Ephesians 6:17) to overcome the wiles and schemes of the enemy. You have no excuse to walk in defeat any longer, but every reason to rejoice in the victory of the Lord!

Let your words be linked to Prayer. Prayer acts as the spiritual umbilical cord that connects you to your maker, God. When you, pray you release every burden, desire, and need before the Lord, and in turn God releases peace into you, fills you with vision, and equips you with strength. Victory is always established when you open your mouth and give it all to God. When Nehemiah was rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem he faced a lot of opposition from the enemy camp, they tried to discourage him, they tried to trick him and conspire against him, but Nehemiah stood confidently knowing the God he served. When they came to question him on who told him to rebuild the wall, he simply responded, “The God of Heaven, He will prosper us; therefore, we His servants will arise and build…” (Nehemiah 2:20)

Nehemiah stayed in the position of prayer, and he watched the Lord help him overcome and be victorious in rebuilding the wall. Friends, you will face opposition in life, sometimes you’ll even feel like giving up, but that is not God’s will. He calls you more than a conqueror, thus get on your knees in prayer and choose courage because you are already Victorious!

Prayer

King of Glory, thank you for making me in your image and likeness, thank you that I am yours. Lord, keep me saturated in prayer as I face different things in life, things that are not meant to destroy me but to equip me and build my character so that I am an honourable vessel for you to use. Teach me Lord, how to be wise with my words, to speak things that edify and encourage, build and strengthen through your word. Refine my speech through the power of the Holy Spirit. Hold my hand in every season and may you continue to remind me that the battle has already been won, and that I just need to enforce the victory.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen

About this Plan

Victorious

Walking in Victory is what we are called to do every single day, not because of our own strength or abilities but because of Jesus Christ, who is the definition of victory. He tells us that we are more than conquerors through Him, and therefore defeat should never be a place we choose to dwell. This 3-day devotional is a great reminder that all we need to overcome has already been given to us through God's word and the tools in it to live a life of victory in every season and circumstance.
