WHAT IS VISION?
Scripture — Numbers 13:2, 30 (NKJV)“Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to Israel.” … Caleb quieted the people and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”
Reflection:
Vision begins with God’s promise, not our perception. Before Israel saw Canaan, God had said, “I am giving it to you.” Vision is a God-given glimpse of God’s future, a picture of what could be and should be. The spies walked the same land but did not see it the same way. Ten magnified obstacles; Joshua and Caleb magnified God. Rick Warren says vision is seeing God’s presence, power, and purpose despite the odds. Vision does not deny giants; it will not let them define the story. When vision is alive, courage rises, and obedience feels urgent. Caleb’s words show that true vision always pulls you toward action, not passivity. Vision anchors your heart in God’s unshakeable faithfulness even when circumstances feel overwhelming.
Application:
Today, take ten minutes and ask God what He sees over your life, family, and church in this season. Write a vision sentence that begins, “By God’s grace, I see…” and place it where you will read it often. Share that sentence with a trusted friend who will pray and believe with you. Choose one small action that agrees with God’s vision and put it on today’s schedule. Refuse to repeat negative “grasshopper” language about yourself. Daily declare, “God has gone ahead of me.”
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that Your vision for my life is greater than what I see today. Help me think, speak, and act in agreement with what You have promised. Amen.
