We Were, But Now We Are
From Outsiders to Family
Ephesians 2:19 tells us, "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household." Before knowing Christ, we were outsiders, but now we are part of God's family. This transformation is not just about being saved from sin but being welcomed into a community where we belong and are loved.
New Team, New Jersey
1 Peter 2:9-10 declares, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." When we accept Christ, we join a new team. We are given a new identity, symbolized by a new jersey, representing our commitment to live according to God's playbook—the Bible.
Kingdom Over Culture
The early church faced cultural and ethnic divisions, yet they were called to unity in Christ. Romans 14:19 encourages us to "make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification." As the church, we are called to prioritize the kingdom of God over cultural differences, uniting under the banner of Christ.
Champion the Church
Hebrews 10:25 urges us not to give up meeting together but to encourage one another. We are called to champion the church by standing up for it, sharing its responsibilities, and supporting its mission. This involves being active participants in the life of the church, using our gifts to serve others (1 Peter 4:10).
Reflection Questions:
- In what ways have you experienced the transformation from being an outsider to becoming part of God's family?
- How can you prioritize the kingdom of God over cultural differences in your interactions with others?
Applications:
- Embrace Your New Identity: Reflect on your new identity in Christ and how it influences your daily life. Consider ways you can live out this identity in your community and church.
- Engage Actively in Church Life: Find ways to serve in your local church, whether through volunteering, joining a small group, or participating in outreach activities. Use your gifts to build up the body of Christ.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for transforming us from outsiders to members of Your family. Help us to embrace our new identity in Christ and live as part of Your church. Teach us to prioritize Your kingdom over cultural differences and to champion the church with love and dedication. May we use our gifts to serve others and glorify You in all we do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Readers are challenged to move from spectators to active participants through unity, discipleship, and service. With a clear call to spiritual awareness and authority, this series invites believers to stand firm in Christ, close doors to darkness, and live boldly as part of God’s victorious and growing church.
