Day 2: The Light Is Personal

A lot of people who come close to death describe a light that feels alive. Not just bright, but personal. Not merely comforting, but holy. The kind of presence that makes you feel fully known without feeling exposed to destruction. Even if you have never had an experience like that, your soul recognizes the longing underneath it. You were made for more than surviving until you stop breathing. You were made to belong to God.

Jesus does not talk about eternity like a vague idea. He speaks about it like home. He says He is preparing a place, and that He Himself is the way. That matters because you are not being asked to place your hope in a concept. You are being asked to trust a Person who has authority over life and death.

Fear has a predictable script. It tells you death is the ultimate darkness, and God is the ultimate disappointment. If you’ve ever felt that script start playing in your mind, you’re not alone. But Jesus interrupts that script. He tells you not to be afraid, then proves why. He entered death, took its full weight, and came out alive. He is not guessing about what waits beyond the threshold. He holds the keys. When He is near, you are not dealing with random spiritual energy. You are encountering the risen Lord.

That changes how you pray right now. You can stop performing. You can stop hiding. You can bring your real questions, your real guilt, your real grief. His light is not harsh, but it is honest. It warms, and it reveals. It comforts, and it corrects. If you let Him, He will replace fear with trust and emptiness with desire for what is eternal.

You do not need a crisis to meet Him. You only need willingness.

Jesus, You are not distant or vague. Draw me close. Replace my fear with trust, and let Your light heal what I’ve kept in the dark. Amen.
